Topic #5: Heroes

CONTEMPORARY CONTRIBUTIONS BY INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

They can be First Nations, Métis and Inuit.

For your presentation, select from:

  • Indigenous people who have had a positive impact in Canada or in their own communities.

  • Choose one hero, or a few heroes, to highlight in your group project. You can choose heroes in the past or in the present

  • Do monuments and sculptures in Canada celebrate Indigenous contributors and heroes or are they predominantly absent from mainstream society?

  • There are also indigenous heroes in the spiritual realm, such as Elder William Commanda.

Below are a few examples to get you started on your research. You can include them or find different examples and sources.
