4 Seasons of Reconciliation

Welcome to the Professional Development Portal

4 Seasons of Reconciliation is a multi-media teaching unit that promotes a renewed relationship between Indigenous Peoples and Canadians, through transformative learning. This educational initiative, developed  for secondary, post-secondary and the workplace incorporates teacher guides, slideshows, videos and films along with engaging online portals.

Reconciliation On Bay Street

Produced on heels of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) final report, Reconciliation on Bay St. is the first ever film on economic reconciliation in Canada. While the TRC’s Call to Action #92 invites Corporate Canada to adopt the principles of reconciliation; Indigenous leaders pave the way forward towards concrete solutions that can help fuel economic growth and benefit the entire country. The short film features Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders, sharing their insights and opportunities and a hopeful glimpse at a respectful and prosperous future.

Learning Objectives

This Professional Development unit provides the basic foundational primer Canadians have not yet learned in school about Indigenous People and the relationship and history between Indigenous People and those who settled on their lands.

This unit aims to provide the learner with a basic primer overview which meets some of the objectives of the '94 Calls to Actions from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission'. This is new information to most Canadians.

This online unit is meant to enhance (not replace) local Indigenous knowledge. We hope that that it will provide a bridge that facilitates direct learning relationships with Indigenous Peoples, Nations and organizations as a result of a heightened awareness and understanding. With this foundational unit, connections with Indigenous Peoples are the natural next step we invite you to take. Online portals and multi-media elements cannot replace the importance of being in direct contact with the Indigenous Peoples in your region. Sitting down beside an Indigenous person and taking the time to listen and learn is a vital next step. We hope this learning serves as a building bloc to assist with those essential local connections.
